Thread: Bad Links

Link building has it's risks. You cannot always control who or what links to your site. Occasionally, this could garner you a penalty or ten.

What are some methods/tools you use to verify your inbound links aren't questionable or potentially damaging?

How often do you check?

Usually if you build a quality website and allow natural link growth to follow, the number of good quality links will outweigh bad quality links so in my view it's nothing to worry about. Even if some bad sites link to out websites it's not as if we can do anything about it.

I think that bad links can not do harm to your site at all until your site start to link to bad sites. You cant controll who links you. So bad links in worst case are disregarded. Otherwise you could use that to sabotage your competition.

I think bad links do NOT affect your site one iota.

It's definitely only a problem if you link to a bad site.

You have no control who links to you, thus shouldn't be penalized

I think you are right but I want to know thing that if I link any site which is not related to my niche , so it can hurt my page rank or not . What if I have given link to some popular high quality sites .

Who says you can't

I think a large number of low quality links with the same anchor text, added in a short period of time can do some damage to a new site, as that would clearly fit a spam site pattern. Now I haven't tested that for a while so can't be sure, but if taken to the extremes it can probably work to damage your competition
