    Chrome & IE Return Different Search Results

    I just noticed that I'm getting somewhat different search results when searching in Chrome and IE. Generally I use chrome. So, I wouldn't catch this. I have the Google Toolbar installed in IE. Also wondering if it's the toolbar or IE which is causing the difference.

    Hi,

    Lost here your saying that the same keyword search is giving different search results depending on the browser

    Mind posting a screen shot of this.

    How much different are they like a whole different top 10 or just from time to time one site changes order.

    It could be that google is doing a test by reading your browser and sending sites that best fit Chrome just to make it appear to be better over FF for speed and stuff.

    I have also heard that in different parts of the country you get different result for the same keyword search.

    On the search that I noticed the difference, I 'm getting the following results. There isn't too much of a difference. The funny thing is that on another keyword that I'm following, the results for Chrome and IE are the same.

    Chrome vs IE search results

    1. = #1
    2. = #3
    3. = #4
    4. = #6
    5. = #7
    6. = #9
    7. = #10

    10 N/A

    Not just because of different browsers. You can get different results with the same browser but different default languages (of browser) like: en-US vs en-GB

    Yes but it is not the rule. You can get different search results because you are logged in google, social sites addons in browser, if you are logged in twitter account etc. Have you ever saw "Results from people in your social circle for ...". This is more obvious if you are searching in non English results.

    As I sad, download same browser with en-US and en-GB and you can see in some cases different results.

    The results are different for Chrome and IE. But not all keywords return different results.

    Some times I have this issue as well. FF and Chrome returns different results. I usually use Rank Tracker (seo powersuit software) to check 'real' rankings.

    I found a free rank tracking software called CleverStat and gave it a try. CleverStat is giving me the same results that I see in IE.

    According to StatCounter Chrome has a 10% market share. So on the face the IE results should be more important with a 42% market share. But my traffic seems to reflect the Chrome results.
