Do you concentrate on promoting your sites offline?

Like word of mouth, t-shirts etc.

Advertising offline is completely useless for me (being in the webdevelopers niche).
I tell other developers I know about my site though.

I think for your niche offline promotion is awesome. If you go for some tweetup/seminar you can meet someone, talk and they may give you a project

yeah. only problem in the Netherlands: nobody uses twitter :P at least... not many

For my current sites, no, I don't. I do however feel that it is important to advertise sites aimed at teenagers, usually proxies, offline. When I used to own some proxies, I would see the odd spike in traffic, then it;d go down again. This is due to one kid in the school finding out, spreading the news and all the kids will use it, then the teacher will find out and block the site Luckily for proxy owners, there's always another school where it isn't blocked yet ;p

I think offline promotion is also good , but not too effective. But i do it by making sticker and put it on public transportation. This method is called transit advertising.

Isn't it illegal to put your stickers on a bus (as for an example)?


As for me I did prnted some business cards for one of my sites but it didn't worked too well, so I'll remain with online solutions.

It's quite illegal haha, don't come to my country and come to public transportation company to tell my sin :P
No no, hehe just kidding, well my country public transportation is not managed well, people can free to add anything. If i have a chance, i will take my public transportation photo's

in terms of cost-effective way, it doesnt help you out that much.

its easier for ppl to just click the link to your site compared to remembering your site's url and then typing it again at the browser.

if we have many friends ... offline promotion will be good too i think ....
if they enjoy,and satisfied .. they will tell to the others and the others tell to the others .. mouth to mouth promotion ^^

eventhough at the bus station wall or at the front of people home ... you can stick a poster or sticker -_-a ...
