Google never likes anything that try to game it's system. But as long as google don't know, then your site won't be banned or sandboxed.
See, Link wheel is a good way to promotion your site, you know those site are web2.0. it is very popular.and Google would index it very fast,but i think you should be careful how to make Google do not know that is a wheel.

i think this is also a process of link wheel. i use this technique and get good result.I suggest you to build several Web 2.0 properties with unique content in them and link them to your main site. Make some links for each property through Article Submission or by other techniques and you will absolutely see some very good results. Although this seems lot of work, but in long term your main site will get full benefit of links from these Web2.0 sites.
