    Google Algorithm Change

Firetown.com Blog Archive Google algorithm change, focus on branding

Google will focus on your brand and it will be harder for anybody to just throw up a blog with lots of content and ranking for keyterms intended to going to a service website directly.
My advice to you is to focus on branding yourself for your niche.

Google is always changing the algorithm. Just create a completely "white hat"/innocent/usefull website and the algorithm changes won't affect your site badly or not at all.

I think age will become more important in time, for the same reason, to prevent the spam.

One day backlinks will be taken out of Google's algorithm. With backlinks meaning nothing webmaster will be struggling to gain an advantage.

Agree, but I'm sure Google will give even more weight to domains that expire in 3+ years.
I'm renewing mine for longer periods, just in case.

If Google gives even more weight to "brands", this will give a permanent "edge" in the SERPs to large companies. Small business may simply not be allowed to compete on an even playing field.
