So I just recently checked my websites and it turns out Google has released a PR Update! My site (which I just purchased the domain not 2 months ago) went from being a PR0 to PR4! I find this to be some really great results in my book, but mostly because all I've done is build tons of backlinks to my site which has helped tremendously.
Anyways I figured I'd share this with the rest of you guys, you may want to check out your websites' PR rankings and see if they've improved or decreased since the last update.
I always hear how PR isn't important, but it really does play a factor in the amount of money you can charge for advertising. People who run AdSense or another PPC network generally don't need to worry about this, but if you're running a popular blog or social networking site you need to have stats to show advertisers - and PageRank is a popular number most ask for!

Very true, and it really has no effect for me since I don't sell any links.
But I still get great satisfaction when any of my sites gets an increase in PR; it's extra validation for all your hard work, sort of like Google giving you a pat on the back

Exactly how I feel too! Google knows I've put in all this hard work for building backlinks, so they want to reward me with some nice PR juice.
You do realize that Google updated PR about 7 times a day, don't you? So, any effects of PR going up or down has already occurred--most likely many times.
They update their internal PageRank calculations about 7 times a day.

Yes but the actual values of PR are only released every couple of months, so realistically it's hard to see how your backlinks are working for you until they release this.
