if google would be using the content owned by others to benefit from them, then they will just violate their own algo as its plagiarism eh?

That's exactly what Google wants you to do, but only with AdWords.

Unfortunately, advertising, and especially AdWords, is not cost-effective for many online businesses such as affiliate marketing. It is not even cost-effective for an e-commerce site unless you have large enough gross margin dollars to pay for it.

I don't really like Blekko. The results are good. Though it seems that they heavily favor authority sites and paid links. Google has a good product. They would do a lot better if they just focused on making search entertaining and stopped playing with Scheiße.

You can block the Google bot and ask them to remove your site from their index. Though that is really not a solution.

It would be better not to have all your eggs in one basket. But, the Bing basket of eggs isn't enough to feed you.

Well put. Everyone is a Google junkie because they have to be in order survive. Anyone who says that they do not depend upon Google for the majority of their online business probably does not understand the real sources of their traffic. Whether the traffic is direct or indirect, most of it starts with Google. You can buy advertising on a popular site, but that site is most likely dependent upon Google for the traffic it sends to you.

I would really like to find an alternate source for traffic, but when you combine all alternatives available on the web, the results still do not stack up well compared to what you can do with Google. This may not be true in China who has Baidu or Russia who has Yandex, but Google is a monkey on our back in the western world.

If someone knows of a viable alternative to Google, or a cluster of alternatives, feel free to show us what you know.

Seems kind of scary there is so many sites competing for something so simple. Its a pretty dumb and unprofitable niche anyways.

I have to disagree being the first person to capitalize on "whats my ip address" making $1,000's from it. One line of PHP code LOL.

I think the point is that it very likely does not generate much revenue today, especially after what Google has done to discourage users from clicking on any search results. You probably had a "first mover advantage" (kudos for that). Try to make $1000 using that concept today.

That's true, we have to over-deliver with everything now. It's not enough to display just the IP Address, you have to show a map (ideally in 3D), where to get laid in your locality, share with your social media friends so that they can get the widget that displays their IP address etc.
