How I got 200K backlinks in 2 weeks

Not much to update yet, but the two keywords moved up a bit. Might be a fluke though. #188 and #158 now. However the third keyword which is much higher frequency and could actually make it all worthwhile if the site ranks for it is nowhere in the serps ,not even in top 1000. used to be somewhere between 200-500 positions.
You might ask why would I care about such low positions - well, I don't, since they obviously dont bring any traffic, but that's the only way to see if site is moving up somehow or not.

Backlink counts keep growing, I think it'll cross a million backlinks in yahoo at some point.

It was rather surreal to watch the backlinks grow by the thousands every few hours

Its not a punishment but a filter. If you created the million backlinks for CNN it wouldn't cause them any harm due to the trust and authority of the domain. Usually the filters wear off after a few months.

Got my first sale on the site today since I started the experiment so I checked and the site is #1 in bing/yahoo and seems to be back to its former place in Google, somewhere around #13 for the main keyword.
Yahoo is showing 250k backlinks.

I think you're going to bounce back fairly strong from this.

Fantastic experiment.. takes balls to see it through. I think the worst that can happen (in time) is that Google will ignore any low quality links.

Thanks. I guess so, however I wouldn't recommend anyone doing this on a valuable site. I specifically did this test on a site that doesn't bring much revenue so even in the worst case scenario (which is not very likely, but you never know) if I lose the site completely in Google - either by having it banned or deindexed, or severaly penalized for a long time - it's not a big loss for me.
