First you give each of us $5, and in exchange we let you link to our web sites. That is a link exchange.

The spammers never stop spamming, do they?

    Both crappy.
    Now will try a third.
I am just trying free ones.

I have not done any link exchanges since about 2004 when G started trashing the rankings for sites that were using footer link exchanges. A site called Link-Vault.com had a pretty slick system for doing automated link exchanges, but it never produced any results after G went after footer links and reduced the ability of link exchanges to produce results.

The Link-Vault system produced one-way links. You accumulated points by making your page footers available for their system to insert links, and you used those points to buy footer links from other member sites in the network. The more pages that you made available for links, the more points you accumulated.

I think google at the time was going after all these auto-link exchange sites and those who used them.

They never touched those sites that exchanged directly with other sites.

But still, today, link exchanges should only be done with like sites (same niche or complimentary niche).

this is very good and effective process for seo but very complicated too. we must consider all things like - IP, OBL, link juice, PR, traffic and site usage, while linking with other website. it may impact a negative effect even penalize/ban to our website.
