Markting using contest

it's contest for my local country only. And the prize is $10, $10 is big amount in my country, you need to work 3 days on STarBuck in way to get it. DUnno why, nobody interested

contest to keep traffic? hmm, i think i'm agree with sneakyheathen. Make routin top commentator which the prize is $10, instread making big contest $250 (that's mean, you can make 25x top commentator)

You'd be surprise how easy it is to become a top commentator almost anywhere. A couple of comments here and there and voila! Send in the $ please.:P

Not easy as you think, i ever participated more than 5 top commentator contest. But i'm only win 1-2 of them. Because there is a people so ambitious in making many comments

Yeah, truly, a contest can drive a huge amounts of traffic to your site. But once it over, you must make another strategy so that your ex-contestant will be a loyal visitor. Also, to make a contest, budget does matter.

About budget, no need to be worrited. Just look for the sponsor. But in way to appreciate it, give some contribution for sponsor just like free ads on your blog.

This forum is hold a contest also, and it's using sponsor beside spend own budget.

The only problem with that is, my regular commentators might miss out as they probably won't be as driven as some of the people that will come and enter. The result of that will be that the quality commentators won't be on the list, which might lose them, thus meaning they don't return and after the contest I'm left with no commentators.

I don't know what do you mean , simon. But if i'm not wrong, you're fear that your regular commentator will leave your blog because you hold top commentator contest which may drive people to come and make not quality comment?

In way to prevent this, just make a rules i the contest, not quality post will not counted and will be deleted.

That's kind of what I mean. Let me write it differently:

At the moment, I have around 15 constant commentators. These guys leave really quality comments, and 5 of them are on the top commentator list.

If I hold a top commentator contest, a load of new people will come and start commenting loads. These people will probably get on the top commentator plugin.

If these new people are getting on the top commentator list, it will drive my constant commentators away because they can't be on the list.

Then, after the contest, all the new people will go away, too.

So, basically, after that, I'll be left with no one to comment on my blog. For the sake of one month of lots of activity, it's not worth the damage it'll cause my blog longer term.

I think Simon has an excellent point here. That is the most common reaction from people participating in contests. They do what they have to do, win, then they are never to be seen again.

In case you already have regular commentator, we don't need to make a contest. Because what we are talking here is the case when we have less comentator, so we make a contest.

In your case, making top comment (best comment) contest is good. And yourregular commentator will be compete in this contest
