    Markting using contest

DO you ever marketing/promote your site/blogs using contest? I think make a contest is effective way to drive traffic, subscriber, member, follower on twitter, and make many backlink.

Because people love to compete for money, that condition can be used for benefit.

Just say you invest $50 for cash prize of the contest. Make a rules just like :
    - to participate in this contest, you should make blog post about this contet with link

    or

    - you should subscribe or following me on twitter....

at least, there will be new subscriber and backlink for you. But in fact, contest strategy is great...!! I know there is PR0 blog become PR2 after making a contest and google update PR.

So, do you interested in making contest? Or you disagree with my opinion? thanks

Contests are a great way to promote, but you also want to make sure to have something to keep your traffic around for when the contest is over. And be sure to deliver on prizes in a timely manner!

Very very true. A lot of the contests I used to run would get my site some brilliant traffic, then, after the contest was over, it was back to normal. If you run a contest, very few people are actually likely to stay as they're only there for the prize.

I think if someone can think of a kind of contest that will get you long term traffic, I'll start to run big contests again

Try a "top commentator" contest? Most comments by X date wins. Might end up with a bunch of spam, though. :/

The only problem with that is, my regular commentators might miss out as they probably won't be as driven as some of the people that will come and enter. The result of that will be that the quality commentators won't be on the list, which might lose them, thus meaning they don't return and after the contest I'm left with no commentators.

yes, there is some contest holder which forgot to announce the winner some day after deadline. It's so annoting, because make me wait and wait.

About how to keep traffic after contest end is a quite hard question. Sometime people come just for prize T_T

exactly, most people come on it just for its prize, and they'll leave once the contest's over.

Contests are great to kick start your traffic building, but make sure you get informative content in it, and they'll keep checking your site out once in a while

About in way to keep visitor come, just tell them that contest will be holded routinly, and in way to make them not missing the information, always keep to visit the blog :P. Nice strategy right?

Actually, i ever make a contest, here is the contest page :

But there is no contestant. Dunno why...

And there is also a topic, when you want to hold contest in way to promote your site : make top point system or drawing system?

Maybe it's because it's written in an unknown language to the majority of people using internet.

    Try targeting a wider audience.

I have the benefit of having a video game based forum. Therefore, competitons are easy since online gaming is so rampet. 99% of the time we do not have to offer prizes, as the thrill of competing and meeting new people to play with is prize enough.
