Thread: New Website Promotion

Say you've just started a new website and you plan on making it into something pretty damn special. How would go about first promoting it to rank well in search engines? I mean how many comments on blogs would you post to and how often? how many directories would you submit to in the first year etc...

To get a site to rank well in the search engines? Post original content on a regular basis, submit a sitemap to the major search engines, optimize your site to target certain keywords.

That part shouldn't be a problem..it the link building/backlinks that i am really interested in...i know how i could go about it and how i have done in the past, just wondering what other peoples aproach is?

There are a lot of threads here about different promotion ideas. It would be somewhat silly to attempt to replicate them all in this new thread.

That being said, here's what I'm focusing on now for new sites:

• Lots of article marketing for deep links
• Directory submissions through EasySubmits for homepage links
• Blog posts on blogs in the same niche
• Links from parasitic hosting pages
• Links from my existing sites
• Links from friends sites

True Will-Spencer. Until i ask the specific question im kind of just reading everyone elses general or specific questions and answers if that makes sence lol, but i have been reading older posts too.

So with your directory and blog posts would you pay for mass blog submission say...when people offer to submit to 200 PR2-6 blogs from different IPs for $10 or whatever...would you do as many of them as possible and say spend $50 a month or are you likely to get penalized by google or something?

I (generally) ignore blog comments, as all of my tests show that Google ignores them.

Instead, I focus on getting links in blog posts. You can get links in blog posts by guest blogging or by buying sponsored blog posts. The latter strategy is frowned upon by Google.

There is nothing specific. Blog comments are helpful in getting traffic as well as links. If you want to get incoming links then you need to find do-follow blogs of relevant category.

You need to make forum posting in reputed forums of your category. There is no limitations to it, still dont break forum policies.

Do steady work and you will see the results.
