Only count the first backlink in the html code

    Hi guys,

Recently I did an experiment with one of my SEO web pages and you may already be aware of this, but anyway I will leave the results here because if someone is helpful.

I put on a website from my property, two links to the same URL, with two key words invented in which there were no results on Google.

For the keyword of the first link in the html code, I can find both my website URL as the target, while the second keyword appears only my website, but not the URL.

    Sorry for my bad English.

Edit: Now I hope to see the results on Yahoo and Bing.

And I have news. In Yahoo and Bing, the two links count, the first and the second..

Makes sense, Google only counts the first link to a URL on a page. Bing.com does count both links.

Why would they only count one of the links? The first one might have gotten more weight than the second one, but they should count both, right? Why wouldn't they?

No, only first backlinks count in Google.

Example, I will set an example in Netbuilders.

When Google index this post, you only can find the url for first anchor text. In Yahoo and Bing, you can find both.

Example, if you put in a page various backlinks to same URL with different Keywords,

    Keyword 1
    Keyword 2
    Keyword 3

You only rank in Google for Keyword 1.

Do they have to be the same exact url? I mean what if you put two links on the same page, one to example.com and the other to example.com/example.html

Would google count one or both of these?
