    Panda 2.4 Update August 2011

There's been a lot of noise on WebmasterWorld about a Panda 2.4 rolling update.

Google Panda 2.4 Underway? Nope. has confirmed with Google that there is no update taking place for the Panda algorithm currently.

Panda has been updated on a Monthly basis as follows:

Panda 2.3 on around July 22nd.
Panda 2.2 on June 18th or so.
Panda 2.1 on May 9th or so.
Panda 2.0 on April 11th or so.
    Panda 1.0 on February 24th

Google has officially announced today that Panda 2.4 is live for all languages except Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Panda 2.4 also includes a few small changes to the English version of Panda.

Hmmm, do you think Panda and PR updates are now tied together?
This one seemed interesting on the Panda topic:
Searching Google for Big Panda and Finding Decision TreesSo far out of Panda 2.4, I've seen no change or positive (for now...who knows if they have looked at my sites yet right?
So, my 2 year old and I watched...Kung Fu Panda - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia to get my mind right to deal with the Panda.
    Cheers,
    James

According to Google, the changes for Panda 2.4 impacts 6-9% of queries or about 50% less impact than the initial launch of Panda.

Seems to be a tie-in between the PR update and Panda. Both are manual updates and use a lot of resources. Perhaps, they need to run the PR update before running Panda. But, other than that I don't believe that PR export to the toolbar has any significance on Panda. Think of it this way, When the manager closes the store. He sweeps up, turns the lights out and locks the door.

There is something very weird about this new update. Could you guys confirm if you see the same? On my very much updated site the bounce rate went from 50 to 65%, on my site with few updates it went from 60 to 90%(!). Is there a difference how they calculate bounce rate now? On the other hand traffic grew quite a lot.

Check out this article "Bounce Rate vs. Actual Bounce Rate" on Search Engine Journal In short, the actual bounce rate is the determined by how much time the user spends on the page.

It's a very nice article, but now what I'm concerned with is that Analytics is showing a huge jump of bounce rate on my sites since the latest Panda update (Aug 11.), do you guys see this also?

There's also a big jump on my site's bounce rate as of this late.

Thanks for confirming Eimroda. I also see lower page view per visit and time spent on site, but more traffic. Very strange.

There's a lot of noise on WebmasterWorld about increased bounce rate after the Panda updates. Your bounce rate showing up Google Analytics may be quite different than the actual bounce rate.

Another thing to factor in is that increased ranking may lead to an increase in bounce rate. You can't please everyone.
