    Shared Publishing Portals

"Shared publishing platforms" is the best title I could come up with for this post, because this niche is still not well defined.

Not only does it not have a firm "name" yet, but categorization is also a problem. There is no firm fixed line between "shared publishing portals" (Squidoo, HubPages, Knol, etc...) and similar types of services:

    • Blog hosts (Blogger, WordPress, etc...)
    • Micro-blogging services (Twitter, 43Things, etc...)
    • Paid article farms (Mahalo, etc...)

These portals offer several types of benefits to their members:

    1. Direct access to readers.
    2. Ability for contributors to place ads (AdSense, CJ, etc...) in their own content.
    3. Revenue sharing from network ads.
    4. Live HTML links back to your own domains.

Do you use any of these services? If so, which ones?

And, can you help me fill out this chart?

    Squidoo
    Contributor Ads:
Revenue Sharing: Squidoo pays Lensmasters 50% of the revenue from Amazon, eBay and CafePress modules which run in their lenses.
NoFollow: Lenses are NoFollow while they are in WIP (Work In Progress) status. When a lens is fully published, it's links are normal follow links.

    HubPages

    Contributor Ads:
    Revenue Sharing:
    NoFollow:

    Knol
    Contributor Ads:

I have once bought a page at the milliondollarwiki

    Vehicles - Million Dollar Wiki

    What for?

Well, I was probably drunk, but still it's a good place to drop a few links every now and then. (dofollow links)
If I could outsource the entire process of creating pages on all those sites I'd probably be using them, as I can't atm I just don't care a lot.

    It's not hard to outsource
The question is always if it's worth the money/effort?

I'm pretty sure it's worth a few bucks as I'm even more sure that Google still weights some of those nofollow links.
