Thread: Simple SEO Tips?

Hi guys.

I've been doing IM for some time now and must admit I'm not very keen on SEO, purely because I don't really know much about it. I tried to read an ebook but got bored pretty much straight away... so, basically, are there any basic SEO things I should be doing to my blog?

Any help is appreciated

All-in-One SEO or Platinum SEO plugin to start. Permalinks set to /%postname%/ or something similar. That's a start.

I've got the permalinks set to /category/postname/ currently, is that OK?

I've used the All in One SEO pack on a previous blog I worked on, so I'll be installing that tomorrow morning

Meta tags are what you need. And using keywords basically. --> Basics

Then there are more complex things too which I help my clients with. But i'll give you some pointers later.

Yeah, apart from what others have said, build backlinks. Build good neighborhood backlinks, not necessarily pages with high PR, but good neighborhood.

I try and build backlinks by commenting on other people's blogs, and I think I have a few fair coming in now. I also have my site in sig links on a few forums and my site is in a few directories.

BTW, I'm not on warrior forums... what is teh Angela Edwards package?:wacko:

She has a package at $5 a month where you get boatload of sites and how you can place a link there. Sites are PR 6, PR 7, PR 8 etc. So, you're assured of a good neighborhood backlink.

I've seen sites rank no 1 with a LOT of competition and good strength with the help of her package, so yeah I can vouch for it.

She gives you good backlinks for a small sum of money.

Cool, thanks for the help. I always set tags on my posts, is that what you mean? Or are the meta tags the things you edit in the code that apply to the whole site?
