Thread: Site ranking in Google Caffeine but not in Google.com

One of my site ranking well for many competitive keywords suddenly disappeared from all keywords. Homepage disappeared. Deeplinks are still ranking. It happened on last Saturday. But My site is still ranking on all keywords on Google Caffeine (www2.sandbox.google.com). What may be the reason?? Anyone else noticing anything like this.

I have read somewhere that google.com is going to shows same results as www2.sandbox.google.com shows..

Caffeine is still in the experimental stages, which means it is probably only being updated whenever they make code changes. If they made a change to the main algorithm that filtered out your site, they may not yet have made the same change to Caffeine.

Use the site query command to see if your site is still in Google's main index. If it is not, the site is in trouble. It may still be in trouble when Caffeine is merged with the main algorithms. Caffeine is mostly an infrastructure re-write to speed up searches, but there are some ranking algorithms changes, as well.

I have not seen an announcement about when they are going to flip over to the the Caffeine algorithms. They probably will not tell us when they do.

It was happened last Saturday and caffeine has picked new title of my site.. When my site disappear I change the title and description thinking that Google may considering my blog titles, des. as Keyword Spamming. and caffeine update search results and it now shows latest title..

Site is still indexed.. It's deeplinks are still rankings.. What I can see is my site pages are getting de-indexed, homepage disappeared from all keywords, Indexed images getting deindexed..

Caffeine is probably only on limited datacenters. As you pointed out there needs to be an algo change for ranking changes in caffeine to take place.

Google sometimes is difficult to figure out. A small change in their algo can have unintended consequences. That's why it's best to wait a couple of weeks or so to make any changes to your site. In the hope that the site comes back.

Another thing with Google is everflux. Even without an update there can be some significant ranking changes. Just as fast as a site drops out oit comes back.

Ditto. The only thing consistent about Google is their inconsistency. I think they intentionally inject a randomness factor just to keep us guessing.

I would not be overly concerned unless you know about something that you did that is a violation of their guidelines--or if the site does not come back in a week or two.

Maybe we give Google too much credit.

Maybe what we define as 'unintended results' from a slight 'algorithm change' is actually a terrible, terrible bug - I mean, Google isn't perfect. The people that work there aren't perfect. We should sometimes recognize that things go wrong and that they will be fixed, rather than attributing everything to some unknown, but intended, change in the way things work.

Did you mean there is nothing to worry?? Or...

I was worried because my site rankings disappeared + My indexed pages and images getting de-indexed. Almost 100 images get deindexed. 45% traffic dropped. My partner added content to my site. Earlier whenever I see a drop in indexed pages then I do check my site's blogroll links in a tool that tells if a site is penalized or not and I remove the link for which the tools says, it's penalized but now it is showing Penalized for all blogroll links. Even few are very high traffic sites and ranking very very well. So thats why I am confused now. Google recommends content but when my partner added contest and after 2 or 3 days it start happening. Will anyone recommend me to make some changes?? like top posting or remove links..etc..

Remove all the new content and see if the rankings come back.

Google actually has a program that they call debug to fix the mistakes.

They can have as many programs as they'd like - still doesn't make it perfect.

There's so many changes to the algorithm that there is bound to be mistakes. That's a given.

The key is to identify the sites that are not affected by the algo changes. Find out how their link profile differs from your site.
