Thread: Squidoo Lenses

It's pretty similar to article marketing, with the exception being that you have more control over what you include as far as links and promotional stuff. If you want to get sales from Squidoo, your best bet is to optimize your lens based on keyword research and then do a link building campaign. Just building the lens itself isn't usually enough to get it to rank on the first page for keywords that have a decent amount of competition. If you're looking to get on page 1, you have to get some links pointing to your lens.

So in other words, you still have to promote a Squidoo lens, just like you would with any other site.

Yes I agree with you that Squidoo lenses are good resource to promote website by creating pages here.

I second that. I have created several lenses for DP clients and have seen good results out of it. Some of the lenses that were made while I was experimenting on Squidoo showed less results than those made with a good set of long tail keywords and with the right modules.

Once you hit the right long tail keywords, there is a huge possibility of your lens ranking on top search engine results that will eventually give traffic to your site. I have a 6 months old lens that continues to receive traffic from SEs.

The key to the successful suidoo lense is both content and link building. The content is important to catch the long tail.

I don't see to many squidoo pages in the search results. The traffic must be from long tails and other squido users. So the results that you will gain are limited.

But it's free. So why not.

I get some good hits and no cost for hosting. Check out buck owens hee haw at google My lens is on page 2. roy clark hee haw page 3. archie campbell hee haw page 1. hee haw youtube page1. Lens is just a PR 2

To be honest I put less work into it then I have a lot of my site. I wonder what would happen if I really worked on it.

I would like to think it is the content. I did have it in sig links for awhile. I still might somewhere.

I've just played around a bit with Squidoo, but in my unofficial, try Squidoo and Hubpages attempts, Hubpage Hubs seem to get picked up by Google a bit quicker for me with equal promotion (minimal on both sides) efforts. The downer with Hubpages is you have to log-in every few days or your "Hub Profile Grade" drops below 75 and the links go no-follow...that and no more than 2 links to the same URL in the same hub. But, they are both free and will pay you some residual income. I haven't read anything recently on Google penalizing Squidoo for Spam lenses, so don't know if that's still in effect or not.

Content is get for generating long tail traffic and natural backlinks.

When compared to other web 2.0 sites out there, IMO, squidoo lenses are better. If you got good content in their not only it will generate alot of readers but it will also have a good rank in SERPs. If you would build backlinks on it, it may stay in the front page of SEs for a while.
