Thread: Squidoo Lenses

I just got done making my first Squidoo lens and was wondering what people thought about Squidoo and the whole theory behind it? I didn't do it to make money, I merely did it to help promote and place to get a few free back links from an already decent ranking domain. Does it work, or has anyone tried this method to increase their rankings?

Yo, I just spotted that the "Free Nintendo Wii" link near the beginning of your lens doesn't work. Otherwise, it looks quite well done.

I too would be interested to hear if anyone is having any success with website promotion via Squidoo lenses, so I'm also bumping this thread...

Nice lens.

I've got about 5 lens currently and I must say I've been less than impressed by the traffic they have generated me - bugger all! I even got them promoted into the top lens in their categories but found it didn't really make a difference.

I may have totally stuffed it, so I would also like to know others experiences

I purchase extremely cheap articles and create them into Squidoo Lenses in a matter of a minute or two - I use them to get backlinks and sometimes even a few dollars from ad revenue. I don't put any effort into them, really. Here are a few new ones:

What do I think about Squidoo? Its a spam site with very little actual content. The content that is on there is not updated very often. Most of the pages serve to do two things - drive traffic to people sites or to make sales.

I'll be honest, I do just that.

I don't care much about Squidoo and I'm actually not a fan of their site at all. But I realized that by publishing a few low-quality articles that I outsourced for an extremely low rate I could get backlinks, drive traffic, and even get some money. I had an account in the past that earned me around 45$ total. Now I made a new one (I posted links above) and am going to try the same technique.

I haven't plaid around with it too much. Everyone is right. It's a way to drive traffic to your sites and to get links.

I don't see to many squidoo pages in the search results. The traffic must be from long tails and other squido users. So the results that you will gain are limited.

But it's free. So why not.

squidoo pages is one of the most ranked web 2.0 properties. If optimized pretty well and depends on what keywords you are competing with, it will rank in the first page in no time. It's just that, squidoo nowadays been more strict, they seem to remove pages that are promoting health related/weightloss, etc.

Squidoo will give good results and traffic if it is promoted well. It demmands almost equal promotion that a site needs (I don't personally devote that much time even if I offer professional squidoo creation service. It suits people who don't want to pay for hosting and blah blah). PotPieGirl (potpiegirl.com) gives some great tutorials and article for squidoo lens promotons.
