    Trackback and Pingback

    Hi all,

I have a blog that keeps getting trackbacks from the same blogs everytime I add a new post to my blog. When I approve those trackbacks, a link shows up at the end of the article.

My question is, what exactly are the advantages and the disadvantages of approving those trackbacks really, for my blog?

    Thanks in advance.

    Elisheva.

I see these like most other comment functions and view each one based upon the value it has to my site visitors.

Whether is it a trackback (HTTP) or a pingback (XML-RPC) isn't as important for me as how it will help my site visitor.

If the link takes my site visitor to a truly valuable page, I approve it. If the link takes my site visitor to a spam page, I reject it.

I think my approval percentage is less than 0.01%.

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

How about if the link takes you to a page that has a part of your article on it and says "Go to the original post" and it links back to your blog?

I get that a lot and that's so annoying!

I tend not to allow those, as they don't offer any additional value to my site visitor.
