Thread: What is the difference between SEO and SEM?

Can someone explain in simple words What's difference between SEO & SEM?

SEO- Search Engine Optimization

SEM- Search Engine Marketing

Not the full forms but what they actually are :\

If i am not worng, SEO is where you concentrate on SERPS and how you rank for searches. SEM is where you buy ads like AdWords (The ads seen on the right in Google).

sem = Search Engine Marketing. It includes seo and paid techniques like paid inclusion and paid placement.

seo = search engine optimization. optimizing your site for natural listings and directories.

seo is a piece of sem.
