I don't think Google has a preference as to like blogs or websites more, but rather the content and how it contributes to search engines and human visitors.

Very good point,a blog is just a website as well,the fact that its a blog doesn't mean that its going to have a advantage with Google,but the platform blogs use is often more SEO friendly from ground up,making it that way easier to rank high because you dont have to worry so much about details as in xhtml website making,and can focus more on the development of the site than on tweaking little details.Quote:

I think Google like Blogs because Blogs have new content most of the time and also because blogs have pinging capability which notifies the search engine every time the blog is updated
