Will it affect the SERPs?

Hello,
My proxy list is currently hosted in the Netherlands, and I've been reading some SEO books in the last few days, from what I've seen is that I would better go to a USA-Based hosting company to get better results in Google.Com on keywords...

Is this actually true? Does the geographic location of the website matters or not? Do some of you have results about this? What is your opinions about this?

I've heard the same, however I think even if it plays a role it will have minimal influence in the total equation of serp factors (and probably depends on the strength of your competitors seo strategy). This is just what I experience with my USA hosted site which is outranking other local (European) hosted sites.

I have one of my proxy lists hosted in Netherlands as well and have the same position in Google.com and NL for example, as i previously said in another thread, i doubt the country where you host it is affecting so much, maybe 0,005 %. I hosted a website around a year in Germany after moving it to a US server lost the position, but can't say the position was lost because of the country, was lost because the competition worked more.
For me is the same, keep in mind, is my opinion.

Thanks for the comments! I'm reconsidering moving to another host.. The thing is I have currently 3 hosting packages that are still available for +10 months (I pre-paid them)..

1 Shared & 1 Reseller @ Nikkelhost
1 Shared @ Versio

So it would be a loss if I would have to leave them alone

Versio has very good prices,

unfortunatelly i can't see anything in english and probably they accept only people from Netherlands and Belgium.

They are currently busy translating the website for new English clients, in fact you can trust them very much.. They only host 'xx' customers on each server to make sure they aren't overselling, and it happened once already that all servers were full, the temporary closed new signups till their new server arrived and than re-opened it again to put new clients on it

That's like a host that really isn't overselling and it's great.. Their prices are great too indeed, I paid €10,- for one year of hosting, and it definately meets my requirements, I can't use 'unlimited' so why would I go to other hosts that offer that for much more money?

As long as they can offer wildcard dns i consider them for one of my small sites but nor sure right now, maybe i will move it to a small vps with other sites, i will see.

I've seen domains with WHOIS records pointing to Canadian addresses do better in Google.ca than in Google.com.

I don't think the IP address of the web server matters.

To my view

- hosting a website to a country where natural disturbances are less, this will lessen the downtime of your website.
