I will probably live to see the day when tech-faq/topbits is ground to dust by co.cc and other free domains spammers. Hopefully the world will soon end after that, so it will be as painless as possible. :D
You forgot one thing, Tech-Faq/Topbits is probably more profitable than ever. The strategy is very clever, Will allowed the co.cc but is asking for a fee, so instead paying 0,89 to Godaddy for a .info you pay 0,XX to submit a free .co.cc :-)
Any way, .tk/co.cc submitters lose less because they don't have to pay for domains (or .10$ if you donate to co.cc). So that's probably why free domains proxy submissions to topbits haven't slowed down at all despite the notable reduction of traffic per proxy (And hence profitability).
The website has moved domains. Just wait a month before you start to worry.
How about splitting and separating tech-faq and topbits, and operating them as separate entities?
Maybe something like Tech-faq for paid domain submitters and topbits for co.cc and free domain submitters.
That would be nice if it were to happen somehow.
I for one have stopped submitting.. I don't use free domains (well I have but mostly I use info's) and I can't justify the expense right now as the traffic doesn't cover the cost of the domain lately.
I don't want to go the co.cc route either.
So I am waiting until I see the traffic pick up on topbits before I submit again ( I have a coupon burning a hole in my virtual pocket).
Anyway, that is my take on it.
Oh yeah.. I like the above suggested idea.
I have seen a few other lists take anti-free domain measures. So thankfully, there are refuges for those fed up with the free domain flood.
