Hi Will,
Woke up now after an afternoon nap, came up with an idea.this is not a complaint.
why not limit the total proxy site submissions per day to just 50-60 proxy sites.
not limiting per user but in total.its just a suggestion, don't attack me like an enemy.
regards
nkite

I will answer in my name, because is worst, one or two users will be able to submit all 50 proxies, let's say they are fast and wake up first because they live in Australia or Japan ( no discrimination).
Best is to add featured listing, to avoid further complaints and conflicts, for those who don't want to fight with regular users, to buy a featured listing. A true measure to limit the spam, let's be serious, many owners, maybe most make .co.cc proxies for 24 - 48 hours to earn money fast, they don't want to offer fresh proxies to the users in the first place, they only want to stay at the top. If the users know how to avoid the ads and how to find the url form even if some owners replace it with a small text then will know how to search the list below the featured proxies list too, are not forced to use only the featured proxies. It's a compromise, users will have new proxies daily as usual and old featured proxies as well, users and owners should be happy and spam limited a little, for example the 30 proxies / day owner will use a featured spot and so on. If the idea is good hope to have the first spot![]()

Unfortunately the average number of hits is decreasing, i see many proxies today with 200, 300 hits or under 500.![]()
...
I see proxies that were just submitted with as few as 22 hits!
Do you see the logic error there?
The average site submitted yesterday -- the most recent day for which we have complete stats -- received 821.26 clicks.
That does not include:
- Clicks from the email list
- Clicks from the RSS feed
- Clicks from the Twitter feed
Let's throw in a bit of realism here. At 821.26 clicks for a buck, you're paying $0.00121764119 for a click. That's not an ad impression, that's a click-through. You're getting around 8.2126 click-throughs for every penny you spend.
Seriously, if you feel that I am ripping you off, you don't have to use the list.![]()

Will,
So, would the rough math if someone put 1 listing per day a month up hold true like this:
30days X 750 click throughs per day (rounding down for the stale factor) = 22500
1%ctr(thinking lowball here) of 22500 site visits = 225 clicks
225 clicks at .133 average pay per click == break even at $30 USD?
If ctr or eCPM higher then you make money for just taking the time to list your proxy at Tech-FAQ with no revisits, other advertising, SEO, etc...
Seems like a good deal to me for the person listing, and I'd like to see the company CEO that would respond to the degree you do on the subject with how cheap the listings run...
I mean if you were super greedy, we would just see proxies you or your company owned listed for the overall quality traffic driven.
Does the "premium listing" idea fall into the ad network ideas you guys were tossing around the other month out of curiosity?
I can see where some might use Tech-FAQ as their business model to drive the primary traffic now to proxies. If only I had more time to start new projects!!
Thanks for taking the personal time to address even though I don't use the proxy list.
Cheers,
James
Will , that looks about right.Let's throw in a bit of realism here. At 821.26 clicks for a buck, you're paying $0.00121764119 for a click.
Here is my math, Total yearly adsense earning divided by yearly visitors.
$3,555.82 / 2,383,998
Total is equal to $0.00149153649 Per visitor.
Tech-faq has always been great place to advertise becuase as the ROI is almost in equilibrium with your price. If you were to use some CPM you could bumb it another .001 or .002 point for maby 0.004, which bring you 0.003 points above the cost.
And with the coupons you can slash your price per click in half to $0.0005 making it even more worth it.
Traffic on these sites is so worthless xD
I bet on your content sites the visitors are worth like 0.50. --- 0.001 is just laughable.

I'm not sure if all 800 visitors(Clickers) get through. Google-analytics always shows significantly lesser visits from tech-faq than the clickthrough stats shown on tech-faq . Maybe some get blocked en-route before they get a chance to even see the proxy? (And thus trigger analytics)
