We are accepting co.cc domains until someone explains why this is bad for our site visitors.

This is just a question.. if you are going to quit the business why would you want to throw any more money in it? Maybe the traffic you will receive will keep you in it

Hey guys - I've added some new features over the weekend. I've also added a place where you can buy coupons for a cheaper price than paying $1 per submission.

Okay, here is a question. Why should we be giving a back link to a site we have to buy a listing from?

Because if you don't, the script has no way to tell that your proxy is still alive.

But seriously, if you don't want to use The Tech-FAQ Proxy List, no one is forcing you to. There are plenty of other lists, like @ Proxy and Working Proxies.

A link back does not a proxy make as evidenced by the previous amounts of spam and other crap on the lists and hence our present situation.

It just struck me as odd that the reason for backlinks (other than the obvious SEO gains) has primarily been that as the proxy list site in question is providing a free service to list proxies then you give a link back in return.

Now we find ourselves in the situation of having to pay to submit a site and linking back anyway, when the problem the fee is designed to solve is one created by their not being an approval process for new sites to go through in the first place or inadequate technological measures to correctly detect whether a site (both on submission and after) is actually a proxy.

The phrase "getting to have your cake and eat it too" comes to mind, and what's worse we have to buy you the cake

    Just a thought...

Well in fact that's not right, on submission it's true indeed.. a backlink is useless as we pay, though think about 'cleaning' the list..

All parked pages will directly be removed because they don't have a valid backlink to Tech-Faq and your proxy will still stay on the list
