Well I am kinda afraid to say this but the daily profits are gone for a toss after the co.cc exploitation..

Yeah, most of the revenue is gone now the proxy business got exploded with .co.cc domains But I have 196 .info's I should still take care of, and once those are done I guess I'm going to join the .co.cc people as there is no other option atm.

Tech Faq is on the main page for the most important proxy keywords but the traffic decreased and the profit as well since 2 years ago when the site wasn't so popular and was free.
There are too many submissions and the number of visitors the list is receiving can't compensate them because is somewhere at the limit. What is happening is very normal, the niche is saturated regarding the number of proxy owners and proxies released daily.

Restricting the number of daily submissions and increasing the fee to 3$ are the right solutions.

One example without name, one owner submitted around 10-15 proxies today.

I should release 200 proxies in the first 4 months, but since the other owners should get some visitors too, I'm limiting it to submitting a maximum of 2 proxies daily. Most days I haven't even submitted a proxy

I think that .co.cc domains are being automatically blocked by websense etc... It will only be a while before no one uses .co.cc domains.

If that guy is paying for those 10 -15 coupons used daily i'm 85% sure will pay for .info domains as well.

Just stop submitting till the .co.cc aren't there as much. Why continue paying for advertising if you're not making a return?

The problem is that some webmasters (Who pay for domains)(Including me at times) aren't getting value even for the 1$ submission fee (Let alone make a profit) because of co.cc proliferation.

The submission fee was supposed to reduce spam submissions (And submissions in general), thereby providing each proxy more exposure and thus bring increased traffic per proxy along with the increased promotion of tech-faq by Will.

However traffic per proxy from tech-faq has gone down quite a bit in certain cases, or at least hasn't notably improved due to those measures. This has been partly due to the *increased* quantity of submissions (Many of them co.cc domains).

Here is an idea..


Put a Drop down or link option on the page that says "Hide CO.CC Domains From list" or better yet "Show only real top level domains". (Record the information/statistics how many use it) and see what the users decide! or just leave the option there as a viewing perference for the user and set the option as a cookie/session that does not expire after they close their browser. So on their next preference will be saved.

Here`s my opinion...

Yup, you are right!
Just like affiliate marketing, proxy niche is very cluttered nowadays!
So many new player in this business cos the entry barrier is very low,
the start up capital is very2 low!
Everybody could start up a proxy business just with $50 or below!

But I think this is the main reason why this business is saturated:
Because so many proxy owners selling Bullshit ebooks everday!

1. Hey dude, look at me, I earn $ 750 just from one proxy/month!
2. Hey moron, look at at my Photoshop edited screenshot earning too, I earn $ 1,500 only with 20 web proxy!
3. You want to be like me, having holiday to Hawai and Paris everyday? Just grab my ebook and then start building ur fuckin proxy network!

So banning co.cc is not a solution!

The solution is DON`T USE the same strategy!

I have 2 advice for you who are VERY DESPERATE with saturated competition:
1. DON`t BE ANOTHER JOE!
BE AS CREATIVE AS YOU CAN!
Don`t submit your proxy to tech-faq anymore (too many script kiddies and newbie proxy owner promote their proxy there)

Do you think the BIG GUYS (Privax Network)need to be worry about co.cc submission?
I don`t think so!
Why? Because they already have their OWN MARKET (they are focusing on IT guys who need anonymizer instead of teenager students who wants to unblock their Myspace!
They also have a very BIG TRAFFIC from paid traffic & SEO!

So the second tip is:

2. IF YOU DON`T HAVE BIG ADVERTISING BUDGET, OPTIMIZE YOUR SEO
I think this is the best long term strategy for you.
My site just succesfully rank #6 on Google.xx.xx for the word "xxx xxx xxxxxxx",
You know what?
I can enjoy 100 UV premium traffic from ONE (I could multiply it 20 times Google.xx.xx: it means 2000 UV/day) Google.xx.xx per day just by doing nothing (no need to waste my precious time to submit my proxy here and there, Google is my 24 hour salesman!).
SEO is very good to earn FREE QUALITY (and also HIGH CTR) TRAFFIC!
