Bing, Facebook deepen ties, threaten Google +1

Microsoft has unveiled a deeper conglomerate of Bing and Facebook that harvests the power of the social Web, one year after forming a partnership to take "social search" to the next level.
When the partnership was formed it seemed meaningless and redundant. After all, if you're checking Facebook and Twitter several hundred times a day, do you need your friends' updates appearing in your Bing search results? Where's the value in that? Well here's a look at Bing's new Facebook features and why this may mean the end of Google +1.

You can also use the Bing Toolbar to "like" a page even if it doesn't have a like button. With Google you need to be logged in and the page needs a +1 button. Google is clearly behind in this aspect.

I don't know perhaps it is just me, but each time there is something new, it is the euphoria particularly when it comes from Google.

I really don't see regular people going to the Google control panel and log in just to push the Google+1 button besides the webmasters or corporations able to generate a tons of +1 in a short period of time.

The astonishing thing is that the +1 will count for SERPS, if webmasters don't put the button or if people don't click on the +1 button, you may have Google retaliate on your rankings, which will always give the advantage to the big corporations, big media, basically any big guys having huge traffic. In other words it is also a major tool to put out of business the little guys and the small businesses.

I've started to add plugins for tweets/like/+1. I haven't noticed any "+1"'s but have gotten quite a few tweets. FB doesn't have a counter so I have no way to tell how many likes.

When I do a search I really don't want facebook pages using a keyword to appearing in the results as it will likely mean I don't get the results im looking for and will stop using that search engine.

The problem of Google is completly turning their back on the small businesses, small publishers, small shops, small business services, which in fact are the backbone of internet to favor the big guys, big corporations or chain corporations. Now the people of these small businesses are focusing in social networks where they can interact directly with the people without been censured or ranked nowhere, that's the reason Google is losing traffic every single month.

It looks like social networks as this new industry is slowly being absorbed by the old guard. It's becoming a sort of a Google vs. Microsoft battle, as social integration with search gains steam.

I also don't really like +1 compared to Facebook's simple "like", but Google+ features are pretty impressive. Just needs more people. I think it might be a protracted battle. Facebook wont let go easily, especially with Microsoft at its side, but Google betting their company on Google+ means they're in it to win as well.
