Do you bother about PageRank?

Hi,

Do you bother about the Google PageRank?

Although I have had PR 4-6 websites in the past, I really do not care as PR and SERPS are different.

However there are people who pay a lot for PR links.

What's your take?

well but actually PR is not affected a site position on SERP. I ever hear there is PR3 site have good position on google serp more than site which have PR4.

But still, since for many people, PR become indicator of how good the site are. I think to get PR is impoartant

Personally, I hate PR and think it's one of the biggest scams since... well, actually, I can't think of a bigger scam

So many webmasters spend so much time trying to improve their sites PR, and, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter. Whilst I can see it as a badge of honour, not that many of your visitors care about it, and your SERP ranking is what matters.

agree with simon. but that's not mean you don't want to get PR right? because PR is become indicator of how good the site are (for mostly people).

With high PR you can set high ads price rate
With high PR you can get big money from PTR program
With high PR you can sell text-link
etc...

Well, do you know that there is such thing as a forged pagerank? (i.e. fake pagerank).

So, better check whether a pagerank of a site is forged before advertising there :P

Yes many people do that, and mess their entire reputation up. Forged PR's are very easy to catch.

forged pagerank is can be known, by using PR valid checker. Use the tool before you decide to buy a blog/site.

Anyway, do you guys have a stat like how many link needed to become PR1, PR2, etc..?

There is no definative answer as it depends on the quality of the link. For example, if the link is coming from a quality PR5 site, that link is going to be a lot more powerful than 2 links from a crap PR1 site.

It really depends a lot on the site giving the link.

Anyway, do you ever hear kenkai page rank table? what do you of it? it' a table contain info about how many link needed to be PR2, from PR1 site, to be PR4 from PR3 site, etc...

I've read about it before, and it is total crap.
