The US FBI is running DNS servers in part of an effort to combat a trojan developed in Estonia called DNSCharger. The trojan has spread to 100 countries. In the US, the trojan is running at “at half of the Fortune 500 companies,” and at “27 out of 55 major government entities".
The court order that allowed the set up of the replacement DNS servers expires on March 8. So, unless a solution is found millions of users will loose their internet connection.
