Hey, maybe, just maybe, Google is pushing everyone to go back to what it was before they showed up.
And that is: ADVERTISING!
I remember those days when there were tons and tons of sites where one could advertise and get traffic from.
I had several sites that were nothing but simple sites full of nothing but banners and text links.
Made money selling space on those sites and everyone got traffic!
I think that signature links are discounted the same way as site wide links. 2 or 3 signature links on a thousand forums are more powerful than 2,000 signature links from the same forum.
I don't believe LSI has anything to do with it. Most likely a combination of the link being relevant to the site and aligned with the thread topic, title and keyword density.
Most of that traffic was secondary traffic from Google. It was good while it lasted.
Read my last post carefully!!!
That was BEFORE GOOGLE!!!
So there was NO secondary google traffic!
Geesh, you only had yahoo and aol.
When traffic was traffic.
WHen traffic was GOOD traffic.
When traffic actually stuck around and actually bought something.
But then, you would have had to been on the internet back in the very damn early 1990's.
At the time I used Yahoo and the results were pretty good. But that's when the directory model was still working.
