Not disagreeing, but rather than hearing the Germans stating the obvious, they should create a competitor which gives us an alternative to Google.

Google has way too much money and has developed a "delusions of grandeur" complex. They appear to brainwash new employees into thinking that everything they do is wonderful and benefits the web community.

I have had several conversations with Google people over the past year an it is very clear that they do not want to listen to opinions and viewpoints from anyone outside of the company.

Like I keep saying, they live in their own little Googley world.

It is very hard to chase an 800-pound gorilla out of the room unless you have a larger gorilla. It is not a matter of "Can it be done?", but rather, "How to do it?" I still remember the days when Alta Vista was the largest search engine, but it didn't take long for Google to overrun their encampment.

In a nutshell, this is why their search engine worked: The Anatomy of a Search Engine

All the others didn't have a real vision. Not even Yahoo and especially not MS.
