Google changes - privacy policy updates?

    Hi,

Curious as what I should add to my "stock" privacy policy page. Which looks like so:
    Privacy Policy for Hid3

IP addresses, and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
    Cookies and Web Beacons
    Hid3 does not use cookies.

You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information on their practices as well as for instructions about how to opt-out of certain practices. www.hid3.net's privacy policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such other advertisers or web sites.
If you wish to disable cookies, you may do so through your individual browser options. More detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers can be found at the browsers' respective websites.
It was one I had generated and I continue to use, I figure I need to add another paragraph but clueless as to what.

    Thanks,

In this case you don't need anything site specific.

    https://www.google.com/adsense/suppo...11&medium=link

Which means that you should add this:

    • Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on your site.
    • Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and other sites on the Internet.
    • Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.

So am I understanding it correctly that these three lines are all that is needed to be added to existing policies?

    • Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on your site.
    • Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and other sites on the Internet.
    • Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.

That's what you have to mention in the privacy policy.

This is how Google suggests you mention it:
We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our website. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, click here.
As an example of how to embed this into the auto-generated privacy policy, showed in the first post, refer to this.

You're not mentioning the DART stuff there Charles.

You don't exactly have to mention the name of the cookies that Google is using, but you have to explain what they're doing, which is covered in this line:
These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.
P.S. I didn't write that snippet, Google did.

JenSense's privacy policy works, and abides by AdSense's TOS, but IMO... it's overcomplicated. Readers want to know how they are being identified, and pretty much that only.
