Google Logo becomes a barcode?

Today Google seems to be sporting a new logo, just a barcode. I don't know how to read barcodes but I assume it says "Google is God" or something like that.

Why does everyone always seemed so surprised when Google changes their logo?

They've been doing it for years. xD And when you highlight it, it gives you information.
