I believe that now their core algorithms have reached their limits and if pushed they are much more destructive and will wipe out not only a few spammers but also a lot of e-commerce and sites doing "white hat SEO".
Algorithms are not magical formulas, there will be winners and losers.
Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.
