Have any of you guys check out the new Google Sidewiki? This allows you to post a comment on any webpage on the internet. Pretty cool huh.

Eh, this looks like a feature that I'm not going to be a big fan of, personally.
Google doesn't seem to "get" the idea that I really want to own my own data.

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

Google Webmaster Central announced a feature today (although the last update is 1/8/2010): Create your Sidewiki page owner entry.
I am not sure about using Sidewiki, it raises some questions:
- How about abuse. Apparently, there's a filter but can comments still harm my site's reputation?
- Any SEO benefits? To what extent will use of the sidewiki influence search results?
- Are users going to like it? If so, will it be the next big Google thing?
Things like this are bad for business. Much like that Firefox Addon called WOT.

With WOT (Web of Trust), you can visit the sites of your competitions, give them low safety and satisfaction ratings, leave negative comments, and then when someone else visits, they are stopped with a massive warning page. Somehow, I can see this new 'sidewiki' going in the same direction.
Now this has me intrigued.
