    Google Silent on Caffeine Update

    Caffeine was supposed to be rolled out after the holidays. So it appears to be delayed for some reason. The Google spokespeople are silent.

    Duplicate Content - I believe with the new infrastructure that Google will be more able to detect duplicate content. So nows a good time to clean up duplicate content issues that your site may have.

    What about privacy policy pages? I just added the following in my HTML code;

    PHP Code:
    <meta name="ROBOTS" content="NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW"

    Reciprocal links are another thing that Google can use the new infrastructure to track. Reciprocal links were a big part of the Big Daddy Infrastructure update a few years ago.

    Good idea. I wonder how much bandwidth that Google uses up crawling privacy pages.

    They Don't need to be ranked and they are all almost the same, i.e. copied. So it counts as duplicate content, hence adding a noindex/nofollow attribute to the meta-robots tag will help google save that little bandwidth it consumes crawling such pages.
    I believe this is what the posters above are referring to.

    Got it. I remember from another post here that most webmasters who own a multiple of sites just use a privacy template.

    Thanks for clearing it up.

    Caffeine is still months away. MC posted a comment on his blog last month:

    The short answer is that Caffeine is still live at only one datacenter. Things are on track though, and we expect to roll out Caffeine to all data centers in the coming weeks/months.
