    Google Updating Page Rank Now?

New blog of mine just over a month old.
Someone told me it was pr 3.

So I checked with 3 different page rank checkers and sure enough, the new blog is a page rank 3.
My main blog is also a page rank 3.
And my third blog is still showing page rank 2.

Anyone else see their page rank increase today?

    No increase for me

Well done, but you are simply being linked to from another site flowing PR juice your way, and there has been no manual blocking of the PR flow at this point in time. One of my blogs which I think is a good quality blog has PR0 (it contains Ads) but is #1 above competitors for it's keyword.

These days I'm not sure of the purpose of the Tool bar page rank value apart from attracting link buyers, or of providing IP data to Google about who is monitoring PR of sites. The normal website visitor will be oblivious to the page rank of the site.

But every site owner loves to have the PR badge of honor.

I have not paid attention to PR since 2004. But yes, whenever there is an update people tell me "Congrats on your higher PR ranking".

Seems like overnight, google finally had a page rank update.
Don't know how long they will do this, but it happened.

My one blog that I had eliminated everything did drop down to PR2.
My other blog stayed the same.
My proxy list is PR3. (wtf?)

Now if someone with good pr juice is linking to me, how do I find out?

But the blog does rank high in the serps for a lot of the post titles, post articles, etc.

Now, until about 2 weeks ago, no links on the sidebar or banners, except for two going to my two other blogs.
Then I put 3 banner ads, plus two amazon banner ads.
    Nothing else.
So I am thinking the lack at the beginning of no OBLs helped a lot.

You can still use BacklinkWatch.com to check for backlinks. They are using some other backlink source since Yahoo shut their service down. I recently used it for a fairly new site and the links were current.

That is entirely possible. Google's algorithms have gone way past being bizarre. One of the new updates, which some people are calling the "Mess With SEOers Heads" update. It can penalize a page after any changes are made, even if the page is squeaky clean and ranked on page one in the SERPs prior to the changes. Some guys I know are getting paranoid about making any content changes to an existing page.

    It is a joke.
Look at how many sites and domains being sold that have page rank.
Like: an8uyee.org etc (just an example).
On namepros there is someone who posts domains that are dropping that have page rank.
So far, not one domain makes a world of sense!

Except that the wordpress default causes new bloggers to sport some of their links right away. If it is links to authority sites, it should not matter.

True, I read somewhere on google or matt cutt that a new site should not put any OBL until about a month to 3 months going live.

    I have no backlinks!
    Hahahahahahaha...
