Exclamation Things to Avoid While Sculpting Pagerank

Hello NB members I created this thread because it seems that many webmasters are getting penalized by google or getting their pagerank leaked while they try to get their pagerank up here is a "scrappy" list of things that webmasters think that will get their pagerank up that will actually get them penalized or will give them a hard time getting their PR up.

NOTE: I'm not 100% sure about the following statements:

*Big amount of outbound links to websites that point back to you
*Repeating the same keyword phrase in an excessive manner
    *Overdo h1 tags
    *Repetitive inbound anchor text
    *Low quality link backs
    *Excessive internal anchor text linking
*More than 100 links per page

    Other facts
*Footer links are less important for google
*site maps, contact us section and privacy policy page will help

Those are some I remember I will post more later :P
If you know more please post them

  2. inbound anchor text shall not be repetitive?
what do you mean when you say excessive manner?

It's extremely difficult to get penalized by Google for too many backlinks.
If you're working legitimately, you really don't have to worry.

The rest of these tips are common sense in my opinion. If you have more than 100 links on a page, you're clearly not trying to craft a high-quality site. If you have more than one h1 tag on a page, you're missing the point of what an h1 tag is. Repeating the same keyword phrase over and over totally destroys content for users, which will result in your site failing. Etc.

I always preach that just trying to do the right thing and make your site great will lead you to success. Obviously you should still learn about SEO and things of that nature, but don't focus so much on making sure you meet the standards - let's take keyword density for example. Just write naturally. Don't try and force anything in there.

I also agree that sitemaps, contact pages and privacy policies / terms of service will help immensely. Search engines seem to like them. Concerned visitors love them. Overall, they're just highly beneficial. When it comes to contact pages, they're great for visitor interaction and feedback. Sitemaps are critical to search engine success as well. I have a thread about sitemaps here. This is a good 'Privacy Policy' example. And here is a basic, yet effective, contact page.

I thought you could not scuplt pagerank anymore, meaning it would simply be ignored?

This to which you are referring is not page rank sculpting.

Your thread title mention page rank sculpting yet your content of the topic is not related to page rank sculpting.

Page rank sculpting is done by carefully doing inner linking and making some of those links as nofollow in a goal that more important links get more PR juice.

Since few months ago Matt Cutts declared that page rank sculpting is dead and it will not work for Google.

    Right.
The only way of maintaining High flow of PR juice now is to completely eliminate the unneeded links. Previously just by adding the no-follow attribute to these links, PR sculpting could be done which isn't possible anymore as said by Hellas.
