My forum does not impose restrictions on swearing at all. We actually encourage a "no-holds-barred" environment. Despite the wide level of freedom we allow, there is very little cussing.
We don't really use MSN. Yahoo is our primary messenger of choice. We find it much easier/convenient than using PMs on the board.
I have never lost my temper on a forum ever - not as a user and never as an admin. At the end of the day, most disputes are pedantic and hardly worth it.
