The phpbb support forum requires post activation I believe.

I use a nice set of smilies most of the time.



When I install a forum software I usually get rid of the forum's smilies and replace them.

On my first couple forums a lot of people would always ask to be mods.



The others that didn't I promoted since they were the intelligent ones. ;)

I often do at codegreen because there are lots of spammers there.

This is possibly the most important thing to do.



You should welcome every member so they know they are part of the community.

Someone should probably go hidden when they don't want to be seen online, even though admins/mods can see hidden users anyway.
