There seems to be a lot of 'how to' guides aimed at beginners. it makes you wonder why,m if 95% of the SEO/SEM population in the world know what they are doing, why are they forever offering information to people that may end up being more successful than them?
Bottom line: :"NEVER go out to get a link. Offer information that no-one else has to be useful to someone's life, that will make them want to link to you, and share your work with others. Do good."
