Thread: Benfit of Dmoz Listing?

Not unusual. Doesn't mean your site was turned down... it just means you submitted to one of over a million categories in a directory that is manned by at best a few hundred more or less active volunteers. The chance of any site submitted getting seen by an editor in a timely manner is extraordinarily slim there. Just the way it is. The directory outgrew the volunteer model within a few years of being started... but the model was never changed.

The price of submitting is good {free} so it's still worth spending the few minutes it takes to submit... but dont depend on it and dont worry about it. Submit and walk away. Only sane thing to do.

Maybe Dmoz links count towards the ranking of a site in Google.
But IMO you should just think of Dmoz as a quality directory listing quality sites and having a high PR...don't expect anything more than that. Else you might be disappointed

Dmoz are very authoritative website for directory submission. You can sure get advantages of back links which you are getting from Dmoz.

Hi Nile. I'm guessing you missed the thread about faking your location. You can have your login back if Chicago moves to India. Frankly I'd vote for the move, so you might have a chance.

Given that Chicago is becoming the murder capital of the USA after they banned the possession of handguns, I would not mind moving it to India. How do we get that started?

By me, but I'm ready to support the idea when someone figures it out.

Chicago rightfully belongs in Libya, Syria, Egypt or other muslim country.

Then take half of Michigan, 1/3 of Minnesota and all of California and move them to North Korea, Pakistan, some place like that.

According to me Dmoz is best and best directory then other, and use for improve our site backlinks and also very effective. Its part of Off Page SEO and make growth in our site improvement. I do use Dmoz site and its really usefull for every website.

Why is the DMOZ the best directory? The DMOZ is defunct. I can even buy defunct domains listed on DMOZ cheap. Then what?

I do not think it was not approved because I have submit mine and I have got approval in just 2 weeks. Might be you have missed something when was you submitting.
