    Hi,

I didn't make enough to pay for hosting and domain names. Hope things are better in the New Year.

This month has been pretty good, still can do better though.

On a side note, the prices at McDonalds just increased recently. A junior and double cheeseburger will cost about $2 something with tax each. Oh and they increased sales tax from 7 to 8 this year. We pay the highest tax compared to all the other provinces in Canada.

McDonalds kind of money used to be some real money back in the early 90s before Al Gore invented the internet. A plain hamburger was $1.29 and you have to consider that minimum wage was $3.35 per hour. I think at the time a BigMac, small fries and a coke was something like $6. So, it work cost a minimum wage worker 2 hours of work. I can get a McDouble with cheese, fries and a coke from the dollar menu for $1 each and the minimum wage is now $7.00. So, the same worker can now buy a meal for 1/2 hour of work and now has 4x the buying power. The same is true when you consider Walmart shopping and computers etc

Prices are going up and I don't now how McDonalds is able to do it. 10 years ago a subway ride was $1, a coffee and bagel with creme cheese 75 cents each from a roach couch. The subway is now $2.25 and the bagel $1.25 and coffee $1.50. That's a 100% increase yet McDonalds still has the $1 menu.

I think the lesson to learn is that you need to control the prices and make the money on volume.

Goods and Services Tax in New Zealand rose from 12.5% to 15% this year.

No such thing as a $1 menu here. We pay around $10-15 NZD (store variant; roughly $7.5-12 USD) for a Big Mac Combo.

Generally about $15-20 NZD. Fish and chip shops are probably the cheapest takeaway food outlets in New Zealand. A scoop of chips costs around $2.50 NZD and is pretty close to what I'd consider a meal.

Minimum wage is $12.75. Average wage is around $25.

That's high, mean if you work 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, you are getting more than 2,000 per month (minimum wage)
