    Most of "REAL" traffic are spam bots anyway; So I do not know why you're getting technical here.

    This is an old post. But with that said, buying traffic is usually a waste a money as you usually are getting "fake" traffic.

    For the hosting niche, banners on proxies or hosting forums could work. But the niche is such that you may not get a ROI on the investment. 404 traffic can be good if it is cheap enough. Though I don't think that the hosting niche would get good results from 404 traffic.

    Getting traffic from California is tough...from the USA there are multipe sites that you can use to buy traffic or use something like 7search...PPC!

    I agree with SonnyCool.. Make sure your focus is on SEO.. The basic SEO will do wonders to your website for long term....

    For the time being you can go for websites like traffup that helps your promote your website. You can also resort to social bookmarking and social media sharing as a short term way of increasing traffic. There is no need to purchase traffic when there are so many ways available.
