Thread: Governement Run Amuck: Something to Think About

  1. #21
TD's post reminded me there was a novel out a few years (?) back where the plot involved a group orchestrating the untimely deaths of all the justices on one side of the spectrum (dont recall which) in order to stack the court from the other direction.

Anyone recall what book that was? Seems like it was by a well known writer, but I'm drawing a blank.

    EDIT: Found it.
It was the Pelican Brief, by John Grisham. Think I read that about 2 decades ago. So much for "a few years" when you're listening to an old guy.

And third, considerate law abiding citizens like criminals is completly wrong, She didn't have a word or any proposed action against the criminals, that's very surprising! If what she said was true, why after so many gun control laws in California there is so many criminals? Are the criminals obey laws? I mean there are some questions about the efficiency of these laws...

The 2nd Amendment is not only about self defense, hunting, target shooting...
The Second Amendment is primarily about allowing American citizens to protect them selves from a takeover by a tyrannical government. Hunting and target shooting at the time were a given. The tyrannical government is getting closer every day, especially with idiots like Feinstein in charge. She was the same fool who a few days ago said, "We have federal regulations and state laws that prohibit hunting ducks with more than three rounds. And yet it’s legal to hunt humans with 15-round, 30-round, even 150-round magazines." Huh?

These same idiots never concede that banning assault weapons will not have any deterrent affect on criminals. In fact, it may embolden them to attack "soft targets" where they will not run into resistance. Assault weapons were already banned in Connecticut prior to the attack on the school. Perhaps Adam Lanza was not aware of that.

I've been waiting for Alex Jones to raise that issue. I would not put it past the current administration to do something like that. He only needs to replace two conservative justices with Young Turk Liberals in order to pack the court in his favor for the next 20 or 30 years.

    Why was it written?

    • We migrated to the United States to escape oppressive totalitarian government.
    • The concept behind the United States is that the centralized federal government has limited power over the people (as opposed to the dictatorships from which we came)
    • The Second Amendment states that in order to maintain a free state, the people must retain the right to keep and bear arms. The presence of armed citizens is what keeps the government "honest". No government would be foolish enough to impose a dictatorship on people who have the ability to resist.
    • The Second Amendment does not grant us this right. This right already existed. The Second Amendment merely prevents the government from infringing on it.

NOTE: "Well-regulated militia" does not mean the National Guard. At the time this was written, "well-regulated" meant "well-trained". If you believe "militia" means the National Guard, you must also believe that freedom of speech is reserved for the U.S. Government printing office. If you read 10 USC Sec. 311 (That's Title 10 of the U.S. Code, Section 311, subtitle A part chapter 13) you'll find this:
    (a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

Constitutional Topic: The Second Amendment - The U.S. Constitution Online - USConstitution.net

There are two principle versions of the Second Amendment: one version was passed by Congress, while the other is found in the copies distributed to each individual state and later ratified by them

As passed by the Congress:A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

As ratified by the States: A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

At some point the US will need to choose between a dollar collapse or 20% interest rates. In a couple of more years the national debt will reach 20 trillion and how do you pay $4 trillion in interest payment when the entire Federal Budget is only $3.6 trillion.

There's a lot of loopholes in the US constitution. The 22nd Amendment loop hole woulkd allow Obama to run as Vice President i.e. under a Biden-Obama ticket and Biden could resign to allow Obama to become President again.

Imagine what would happen if you appointed either Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid to the Supreme Court ...

Correct. During the 1960s riots the police supplied the National Guard with ammo and Guardsman actually turned in more ammo than they were issued.

If you look at the numbers, there's about 1 million Federal/Local Police and 350k national Guard. 1.8 billion rounds is about enough ammo for 1.5 million men using the standard calcualation is 1,000 rounds per man.

The 2011 average annual inflation rate of 8 percent as measured by the Everyday Price Index. This is about a 1970s levels. Gold reached $1000 back in 1979 and today it's more than $1600 an ounce. This tells you something. Even the unemployment rate at 7.7% is a very bad sign.

After the 1973-1975 recession, unemployment declined to 5.6% in 1979 during the 'Jimmy Carter' recovery. You can only print money so long and the results was the double dip recession of 1980 & 1981-1982.

Four years after the 2007-2009 recession, the 'Obama Recovery' is at a 7.7% unemployment rate and 50 million people on food stamps. This is where it gets scary. A double dip recession in 2014 could double the unemployment rate to 15% and where do you get the money to give out 99 weeks of unemploymenr and 75 million people on foodstamps?

The National Guard is a kind of a militia in that they are under partial state control. Though the National Guard doen't replace the militia. If you look at the numbers, there's 350,000 National Guardsman and 50 States. So, that's an average of 7,000 National Guard per state. New York City alone has over 40,000 policeman. The numbers don't add up. Look what happened to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

The article about the Socialist government grab of money in Cyprus bank accounts must have Obama salivating like Pavlov's dogs.

That was not the government of Cyprus.
That was done by the EU.
Now that they see how easy to do this taking of money?
Bet they start doing the same throughout the EU.
And the US can easily do the same here.

The EU is a Socialist government association, is it not? All of the member countries are Socialist.

I am surprised that they did this to Cyprus citizens first. Why hit the Greeks and other failing countries first?

According to other articles, the tax has not yet been extracted from their accounts, but has been frozen pending a meeting on Monday.

Cyprus holds fire on savings tax debate until Monday | euronews, world news

The tax imposition may just be shock therapy. If the EU is successful in their threat to force people to bail out their countries with personal savings, it will very likely put incredible pressure on government officials to stop playing games and get their house in order. The onus falls directly on the politicians, who as in Greece have lavished benefits on people in order to buy votes. Obama Claus has many counteparts in some EU countries.
