Thread: Dollar Died

  1. #21
The prices for gold and silver are plummeting again.

Gold bullion is down to $1407. Gold American Eagles are at $1479.

Silver bullion is at $23.24. Silver American Eagles are at $27.09.

Don't believe what any of the gold and silver hucksters on TV say, and don't be foolish enough to roll your retirement accounts into precious metals accounts. It is way too volatile. If you had invested in gold at the peak in the early 1980s and held it until today, you would still be losing money in 2013 dollars.

Did you take our glorious inflation into account?
The fact that dollars today are not worth much?

And the sellers of metals right now are not mom and pops, but banks and other financial institutions.

There are still buyers out there, but at present they are not buying as much as being sold, or wanting to be sold.
A lot of contracts to sell gold are not being bought or traded at present.
Thus that helps to drop the price.

That is what "you would still be losing money in 2013 dollars" means. That is inflation adjusted dollars. The gains in gold have not made up for the decline of the dollar.

China is flooding the market with fake gold and silver coins. I found this article and video showing how to detect the fake coins.

If you are at all interested in gold and silver investing, make sure that you watch this.

Gold bullion has been counterfeited for some time with tungsten or hollow cores, but coins are a fairly new issue.
