Improved background checks won't do a damn bit of good until Obama's HIPAA rules are revised. That is what prevented two shrinks from reporting James Holmes prior to the Colorado shooting. We need a central database where doctors can report people on these types of drugs.
Well it solves half of the problem, because you are removing access to firearms from all the people having legal psychotropic drugs, and it doesn't guarantee that the person will not commit crime with something else. I believe that the problem is deeper and the reconsideration of psychotropic drugs with destructive side effects should be seriously reviewed, and perhaps forbidden. But like I said earlier there is too much money involved. Like you can see in the western societies, psychiatry and the medicine elite in general have a pill for everything, that's how you make people sicker and dependent.

Maybe I will be crude, but for the elite we are just disposal meat stock waiting to be exploited by any means necessary for increasing their fortunes, and their power.

I don't think the liberals care if the nut cases murder someone with a knife or baseball bat. Their goal is to eliminate all firearms from civilian possession. Firearms do have to be confiscated before a Progressive Socialist government to take over.

Also remember that from a liberal's perspective, criminals are never at fault. The capitalist system is the bugaboo and that forced them into crime. Liberals spend a lot of effort defending and rationalizing the actions of criminals and terrorists.

Back when I still did the "live in a neighborhood" (decades ago) I heard what I thought was someone setting off fireworks on my front porch the night before New Years Eve. I walked out on the porch to whip some kid's butt and saw my neighbor, nice guy, Nam vet, in his boxers... patrolling the street with an AR-15 sporting a 30 round mag. I hit the dirt and crawled inside to call the cops.

He'd mixed alcohol with some out of date prescrips, and in his mind he was on foot patrol in the jungles again. He'd blown out his front door, killed a tree or two, the neighbors car, etc. There's for sure some potential for problems when the brain is sent somewhere else by chemical means.

I see your point, but anything the government can misuse it WILL misuse, and I see the database you're talking about as a means to remove firearms from anyone that's taken a depression med ever, been stationed in a war zone (see Pelosi's PTSD comments re gun ownership), anyone that has ever visited a shrink, probably everyone that had a DUI or an arrest for an illegal drug or public intoxication.

Basically they could strip gun ownership from all but a tiny portion of the population with a nice "common-sense" application... for our own safety of course. You know... for the children.

Easy way that liberals love is this:
    You are a veteran?
You can not have a weapon!

They are working on this in many different ways.

Plus look at Californication, where they want to establish a database of AMMO BUYERS!
Plus have background checks, blah blah blah, to find what weapons you have to buy this ammo.

Now back to real life as in, should I read my MAXIM magazine now or later?

I am assuming that such a plan would require a doctor to list someone in the database. Anything the government does is likely to be corrupted and bastardized, especially with the current administration.

The problem with several of these nutcases is that the shrinks could not legally report the people as a threat due to the HIPAA medical privacy laws. Another reason to thank the government goons for a ill-conceived, short-sighted law with unintended consequenses.
