Thread: How Long to Run an Affiliate Marketing Ad

  1. #11
Bad analogy for wall mart to be compared to Tiffany.
One started out selling to the rich, and has basically stayed that way.
The other started out selling to the masses and has stayed that way.

Rich people for the most part do not shop where the masses shop.

Say what you will about wal mart, they do carry a lot of items at a lower cost to the consumer than other stores.

But back to banners and links on blogs/sites.
Bottom line, it is your visitors that determine whether you show high end stuff or low end stuff.
If your high end banner is not selling anything, but other banners and links to low end stuff (or less costly stuff, either way), then drop the high end banner.
And find lower cost stuff to take it's place.

High end quality items will last the test of time.

I was misconstrued the analogy was to compare Wal Mart to Montgomery Wards, and Ben Franklin.

In 1945, after leaving the military, Walton took over management of his first variety store at the age of 26. With the help of a $20,000 loan from his father-in-law, plus $5,000 he had saved from his time in the Army, Walton purchased a Ben Franklin variety store in Newport, Arkansas

He started with a Ben Franklin variety store and made it better. My guess is some one else will make changes to Wal Mart and it will become a thing of the past like Ben Franklin's are today.

Tiffany & Co. was to show that quality items will last the test of time.

Quality items are not the strong suit of Wal Mart. I do also agree that the the masses shop at Wal Mart.

As far as my banner ads go..

My new question is. How do I target people of means, who I know also watch movies to come to my site and impulse buy the higher end items?

Higher end items are not impulse buys and I suspect people with higher incomes do not frequent movie review sites.

    Solution: Advertise on Tiffany.com.

Or, rotate banners using a rotator script.

    TopDogger is right.
To get the top tier (who I suspect do not spend that much time, if any, perusing sites and ads), you must advertise on the top tier sites.

And something I found out earlier this week...
best ad placements are at the very top and on the left side of sites.
Why I got another theme for iowadawg, so I can do that.

I have one on the site and never even thought of that. Where is my head now days.

    Thanks great idea.

I liked your new theme you have Dawg.

How much bacon do you think is on that bun? Looks like a meal for twenty.

Thank you on the new theme.
Someone on namepros mentioned the theme, as the theme I did put on was not what I really wanted.
Just widened out the sidebar, got rid of the logo graphic.

    Probably at least 3 pounds.
So I am a wimp when it comes to me making a bacon sandwich, at about 1/2 a pound.

    -6 out there!

True, but in Sami's case a lot of bots are blocked along with bot-like behavior. CloudFlare can be added to block even more bots to make the stats even more accurate.

I agree about banner blindness. Click ratios and signup ratios on banners in general were way higher back in the 90's.

At least try to align the Ads with the movie in some way e.g. glamorous items with a Bond movie or automotive item with Fast and Furious. Show Ads related to movie access such as NetFlix maybe?

    Hi,

Been doing that as much as I can with the background ads plugin that I had made. Just takes time to make all the background ads.

  10. Interesting topic. I was wondering the same thing. Hundreds of clicks but no sale. Is it useless and a waste of time. I'll run the campaign a bit longer but not too long
