I would not publicly display the PayPerPost graphic, as Google actively penalizes PayPerPost publishers.

I think this is a good topic. Quite a few of the writers I've worked with would benefit from some serious mentoring in their craft.

The blog format may not be exactly right for this topic. The blog format always puts an emphasis on the latest content, never on the best content. That may not be appropriate for this site.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll get rid of the Pay Per Post graphic ASAP. I had a stand-alone format for a while, but went to the blog format really just to keep from going insane :) That being said, do you think a better way to highlight quality over latest content would be do change to where you see "Featured" posts at the top?

I always have trouble doing that with Wordpress. I think Hellas did a fine job of fixing that on Best In Life, but I don't really know how he did it.

Gotcha. His site is interesting. I think the solution is using the "Sticky" feature in wordpress 2.7 (where you can stick a post to stay on the front page) with CSS and PHP code hacking...definitely a weekend project and I will make sure I backup my theme first! If I get it working will post the mod on here unless one of the guys here who is smarter than me already has one!!

As for me, I'd say the layout is too cluttered. I'm not sure where I should be looking when browsing through content. There is so much bold and italicized text, images, advertisements, and whatnot that it appears very unappealing to me.

I've always preferred simplistic designs, so that could just be me.

Thanks for the feedback. Its actually less cluttered now than a week ago:) But, I did significantly reduce the number of posts on the main page to help load time and reduce the (get lost in a long main page feel) and added a featured post section. I'm probably going to remove the amazon book widgets that come up underneath the posts to help with load time and look and feel but will see. For the content, I like to do pics since its not a purely technical audience.
